Sikandar ka Muqaddar Movie Review: In Alexanderâs destinyThere is a beautiful shot of a flock of pink flamingos on the beach as the camera gracefully moves towards them. There is also a touching moment where a character calls his spouse to claim that his years-long obsession was justified, only to be reminded of how that obsession ruined his life. The film attempts to comment on how lives are destroyed when the police act arbitrarily and the courts ignore the âbail, no jailâ principle. Neeraj Pandeyâs Netflix film, Alexanderâs destinyTeases ideas and moments that could have elevated the narrative. Instead, it becomes a matter of the viewer being a few steps ahead, clearly predicting what ultimately unfolds in an extended and uninspired third act. âSikandar Ka Muqaddarâ Trailer: Jimmy Shergillâs Character Seeks the Truth Behind a Heist in Neeraj Pandeyâs Thrilling Crime Drama,
The story begins with the police foiling a robbery plan at a jewelery exhibition based on a tip-off. The robbers were killed, but five diamonds were still missing, leaving the police with no clues. Enter Jaswinder Singh (Jimmy Shergill), an investigator with an impeccable success record. His suspicions fall on three staff members: Mangesh (Rajeev Mehta) and Kamini (Tamanna Bhatia), employees of the jewelery chain whose diamonds had gone missing, and Sikandar (Avinash Tiwari), an IT support person.

What is the basis of Jaswinderâs suspicion? Pure instinct. But is instinct enough to put three innocent people through constant scrutiny and hardship? The film revolves around a challenge given by Sikandar to Jaswinder: if he is proven innocent, Jaswinder must look him in the eyes and apologize. 15 years later, the moment comes when we go through two timelines to understand what the characters did in their search for the truth.
âSikandar Ka Muqaddarâ movie review â A weak criticism on the justice system
while watching Alexanderâs destinyI couldnât help but wonder how directors like Vetrimaaran or Hansal Mehta would have approached this subject. Would he have taken up social injustices and made a hard-hitting drama about systemic flaws in the police and judiciary, where the common man suffers the most? Much of the screenplay focuses on Jaswinderâs steadfast reliance on instincts to inflict physical and mental torture on the accused. The film depicts how the slow pace of justice turns lives into chaos, especially that of Sikandar, who loses his livelihood and gets into debt. Not to mention enduring third-degree torture inside police stations.

Amidst this turmoil, Sikandar and Kamini grow closer, eventually marry and relocate to make a fresh start. However, just as things start to get better, troubles strike again. This could have been a deeply disturbing and powerful story. Unfortunately, itâs weighed down by its soap-opera treatment, while I was trying not to be distracted by Jimmy Shergillâs smooth face, which makes me think the makers are trying to age him. But thatâs not even the main issue â the real problem is that this is Neeraj Pandeyâs film.
âSikandar Ka Muqaddarâ movie review â Canât find the right tone or balance
Drama has never been Pandeyâs strong suit, as evidenced by his previous outings, Where in my mind were you? This becomes clearly evident during dramatic scenes. Alexanderâs destinyHowever, the filmâs biggest flaw is its inability to strike the right tone and its inaccurate perspective. âAuron Mein Kahan Dum Thaâ Movie Review: Ajay Devgan and Tabuâs love story struggles to find its heart in an over-stretched script,

Pandey tries to return to the same environment special 26Which is commendable. But when a movie sets this kind of tone from the beginning, itâs hard to sympathize with the protagonistâs plight, knowing that a âgotchaâ twist is looming. The wait for the twist is long and tedious, but it definitely comes, and when it does, even calling it âextremeâ feels like an understatement.
It seems redundant to call it a spoiler because it is clear from the beginning Alexanderâs destiny This is not a scathing criticism of police functioning. Even if you forget this, the awesome background score wonât let you do it. In fact, by the end, the film seems to be endorsing a flawed investigation based on inner feelings, even if it wasnât intended to be.

When the third part finally resolves, it bombards us with one twist after another through a series of revelations and explanatory dialogues. Unfortunately, none of these moments come from clever writing or even smart directing (whatâs with the fake closing credits?). At this point, it becomes clear that the story is about two stubborn individuals who refuse to back down, even if it ruins their lives. However, because the film focuses primarily on one perspective, the message gets muddled, and you feel cheated for not seeing a better film that was hidden beneath the nonsense. Alexanderâs destiny Even the laziest of the year ends on one of the cliffs â ironically, situated on top of an actual cliff.

As far as acting is concerned, Avinash Tiwari is the life saver of the film. He delivers a nuanced performance, grounding his character despite the shaky narrative. Jimmy Shergill should go on the net right now and start Googling âtypecastâ; Maybe his name comes at the top. Tamannaah Bhatia struggles to make an impact with a character devoid of depth. Rajiv Mehta is good, while Divya Dutta appears in only a few scenes.
âSikandar Ka Muqaddarâ Movie Review â Final Thoughts
Sikander Ka Muqaddar wanted to be both a hard-hitting drama about our flawed justice system and a character-driven thriller about cruel obsession, but it lacks the courage or clarity to really do anything of the sort. What could have been an entertaining exploration of systemic failures and personal vengeance turns into a bloated story weighed down by clichĂ©s, predictable twists, and underwhelming character arcs. Itâs a shame because buried beneath all the unnecessary theatrics is a much better film that never gets a chance to shine. Alexanderâs destiny Streaming on Netflix.
