Mukesh sexual harassment case: Actress withdraws complaint against Malayalam actor citing lack of government support. latest

An actress-cum-complainant in the sexual harassment case against seven persons, including Malayalam film actors Mukesh M and Jayasurya, has announced that she is withdrawing her complaints. The actress said she will send an e-mail to officials, including the Director General of Police (DGP), who are investigating the case. He cited lack of support from the government as the reason for his withdrawal from the case. This comes after a case was registered against the actress under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) Act on a complaint by one of her relatives who alleged that the actress abused her and offered her roles in films. However, the actress has pleaded innocent and said that the POCSO case against her was false and she failed to get support from the government to prove it.

The actress had accused actors Mukesh M, Jayasurya, Maniyanpila Raju and Idavela Babu of verbal and physical abuse during their collaboration in film projects. Earlier in August, the Kerala Police had filed an FIR against the actor and Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI(M) MLA from Kollam Mukesh M. “An FIR has been lodged against actor Mukesh, CPI(M) MLA from Kollam constituency. The FIR was lodged on the basis of a complaint by an actress,” Kerala Police told ANI.

Police also said that on the complaint of the same actress, another FIR has been registered against actor Jayasuriya under section 354, which deals with intent to outrage modesty. Speaking to ANI, the actress detailed her experiences alleging multiple forms of abuse. “Once, when I was coming out of the toilet, Jayasuriya hugged me from behind and kissed me forcefully… After that, Idawela Babu expressed interest in having sex with me,” she claimed.
